When I said "Same Result" I guess I should have said similar result. Since I normally go out shooting for something less than 8 hours, any battery that lasts for one session is "similar". I recharge them after each use. Because the logger does not have any battery indicator I put in fresh (freshly charged) batteries before each time I use it.

By 'same result' you mean they lasted as long as the NiCad for you, I presume?

NiCad batteries are not allowed in Germany any more. My test with non-rechargeable batteries was fine, they worked 8h+. What you say about the grocery store batteries I can confirm from experience. Those large no-name packages aren't worth it.

I now think that either my batteries are broken or the charger isn't working correctly with them. It is with AA ones, though. I'll buy some cheap rechargeables and have another go at my charger. Meanwhile I'm going to test how long the first rechargeables last today, after I discharged and recharged them with an expensive professional charger from a friend.

Thanks a lot for your help, again. :)

I've also used NiMH with about the same results. If you are using non-rechargable batteriew make sure to buy good fresh batteries. Here in the US I have found that batteries in Drug Stores are not as good as those at Grocery Stores. Years ago I would normally buy AAA Duracell batteries in the local Grocery Store for my Palm Pilot. They would last a few weeks. But when they ran low and I was at the office I would grab a pair at a local Pharmacy - part of a large chain. Those would start indicating low within a day or so., And they would not last a week. This happened repeatedly, and was not an isolated incident.

My un-scientific conclusion was that the Grocery store had lots more turn-over of the battery stock and always had fresher batteries. The "expire dates" on both were years out, so it is not possible to tell from the labels which are good.

Try different sources.

Thanks for your answer. Well, mine are NiMH. I thought those were "better", but I guess I'll just have to try NiCad. Or maybe my batteries are broken, which is not very likely since I bought them three days ago. Darn.

I've used both Duracell NiCad and rechargable NiCad from Radio Shack with no problems. Both types seem to last for one day's shooting, 8 to 10 hours with the Data Logger set to log every 15 seconds.I would like to find some LiOn batteries in the AAA size but have not hand any luck finding them locally.

Hi there,
you say that you use rechargeable batteries with your RGM-3800. What type of batteries do you use? I've got one too, and the rechargeables only last about 1 to 2 hours. I'm using Ansmann 1100mAh AAAs with 1.2V. I realize the device says it needs 1.5V, but I have yet to find rechargeable batteries with that voltage.
